View our unique Lithops Collection
We proudly host the biggest collection of Lithops in Namibia, and are also the only place registered for growing these succulents. This is a very unique plant that is mainly to be found in the south of Namibia. This is a must see for all tourists making them more aware of the unique fauna in the south of Namibia.
The name of the lodge is derived from two old ovens situated near the lodge. These ovens were used in earlier years to produce lime which was used in the making of bricks. The first of the two ovens was constructed during the late 1800's. The second oven ( a replica of the first ) was constructed during 1904-1908 and can be clearly seen from the main road at the entrance of Alte Kalköfen.
Located in the heart of the south of Namibia on the dusty district road D462, Alte Kalköfen Lodge is situated 90 km west of Keetmanshoop
The old farm house was restored into this state of the art restaurant which is situated only 1.5 km from the main road, making it perfect for tourists that are on their way from Keetmanshoop, Fish River Canyon, Rosh Pinah or Lüderitz to stop for a nice breakfast, lunch or supper, or to spend the night at the lodge. We specialise in great cuisine and our drinks are always refreshingly cold. The view from the restaurant is breathtaking, overlooking the Gurib river bed with camelthorn trees giving you that rustic relaxing atmosphere.
Bungalows in the shape of old farmhouses will give you a relaxing and laid back feeling which you will only find on a farm in the south of Namibia, making you feel right at home. Exceptional views with inspiring sunsets and sunrises will await you. We offer 1 family and 9 single bungalows each with comfortable beds and en-suite bathrooms.
